Esperidion laxa kina Nora Aunor at Tirso Cruz III. Because You’re Mine, Wonderful World of Music, Dama De Noche, Edgar Loves Vilma, Love Letters, The Sensations, Hello Young Lovers at marami pang iba.

- Ely S. Film Reviews: "...Pip didn’t return to the movies until he was in his teens and was partnered with Nora Aunor. As a love team they were more popularly known as Guy & Pip and they made several box-office hits. But like most other male stars in love teams, his career dimmed when the partner was launched as a solo act and became an even bigger name — alone. This happened to Edgar Mortiz, who was Vilma Santos’ first screen partner. There was a long lull in Edgar’s career until he joined the group Goin’ Bananas. Today, he is very active in show business as a television director. The fate of Nora’s other screen partner, Manny de Leon, was tragic. Nobody knows what happened to him after their love team was dissolved..." - Butch Francisco (READ MORE)

Jojo mentioned singing sensation Eddie Peregrina (paired with Vi in Mardy and I Do Love You, both shown in 1970), showbiz royalty Jay Ilagan (Inspiration, Remembrance, Ang Konduktora all shown in ‘72, and Sister Stella L in '84), young actor Paolo Romero (Ikaw Lamang in 1971), and even her rival's partners, Tirso Cruz III (Dingdong, Give Me Your Love, and Nobody's Child all in '73) and Manny de Leon (Teenage Señorita in 1971)..." - Rommel R. Vilma Santos Recto: Sharing HEARTS for Progress

In her heart of HEARTS, the heroine of the celluloid world who stands by the right and plight of the underprivileged, has lent her heart to make the HEARTS program available to her constituents in the province of Batangas. The charm and charisma that endeared this actress-turnedpolitician to her millions of fans when she started her career in Philippine filmdom at age 9 is still embodied in Gov. Vilma Santos as she meets people, as she faces the challenges of her office. "Monday is people's day. That's the time when I get to meet and find out the needs of my constituents from various sectors. They follow up their requests, ask for assistance. Others just want to see me for picture-taking," she pauses, smiles and adds, "There were many cases when they still demanded to see me personally even if I had already assisted them in one way or another. They just wanted to see me and thank me. Well, it's part of my job. It's physically draining, but the Vilma is still there." Health & Home staffers and others witnessing the interview nod their heads in agreement. With regard to the urgent need of her constituency, the governor stresses that it is still the basic needs and these are what her government needs to address and enhance. "There are many problems, left and right, up and down. But it's still the basic needs that are important and they are contained in our HEARTS program."

This program, she clarifies, was not invented. "It was given enough study time when I won the mayorship in Lipa in 2007, with the help of my husband, Senator Ralph Recto." The HEARTS Program Health, Education and environment, Agriculture, Roads, Tourism and technology, and Social service and security. For her health program, the governor says her government has many projects. "I'll give only one. We have 12 district hospitals. One perfect example is the Lipa District Hospital. All of them [hospitals] were rehabilitated and expanded, and we bought new equipment and facilities and distributed Philhealth cards." She further explains that even though these are district hospitals, people should pay. "We can't subsist if everything is free. How can you maintain a hospital if everything is free?" "...Peregrina's popularity was high, particularly among masses. Jukebox, the coin-operated machine which plays selected music, was said to have attained much popularity as well because of continuous requests of Peregrina's songs. His fame surge even more among the Filipino masses when he became movie star, cast with the leading ladies of the 1970s, including Esperanza Fabon and Nora Aunor, with whom he had a TV show entitled The Eddie-Nora Show on Channel 9 in the 1960s. Among his movies included Mardy, Memories of Our Dreams with Esperanza Fabon. He co-starred with his wife Lyn Salazarin in Batul of Mactan in 1974. He was also the leading man in Dito sa Aking Puso (1970) with Nora Aunor and with Vilma Santos in Mardy. Most of his films were produced by JBC Productions, which invariably paired him with Vilma Santos, Edgar Mortiz, Esperanza Fabon, and directed by Bebong Osorio. "...During the early 60’s, a singer’s popularity was practically determined by the jukebox, a coin-operated machine that can play specially selected songs from self-contained media. It was a period when fans dropped 20 centavos in a jukebox to listen to Timi Yuro’s “Crazy” or Matt Monro’s “Walk Away” and “Before You Go.” Of course, Eddie’s songs like “Together Again,” “Two Lovely Flowers,” “Mardy” and “I Do Love You” were such national anthems and outdid their foreign counterparts not only in the jukebox market but also on the airwaves, in restaurants and well...the local cabarets..." - Gypsy Baldovino (READ MORE)

Film Reviews: "...In the 1960′s, Gloria Romero portrayed Imelda Marcos in “Iginuhit ng Tadhana” and “Pinagbuklod ng Langit.” In the 1970′s she starred in two memorable movies: Behn Cervantes’s vanished movie, “Sakada” (1976), and earlier, 1973′s “Lipad, Darna, Lipad,” the biggest movie of its time in which she played a “manananggal” to Vilma Santos’s super heroine. Up to now, she considers the last as one of her most unforgettable..." - Lito Zulueta, MPP (READ MORE)

“His acting was understated. A great actor and a good friend. He played a big role in our lives. "...Vilma was talking about Trudis Liit, the ’60s Sampaguita tearjerker in which she played the title role, with Luis playing her father, now US-based Lolita Rodriguez her mother and Bella Flores as the kontrabida. Luis, whose real surname is Mercado, died of complications of pneumonia at 11:30 Thursday night, March 15, at the Makati Medical Center where he was confined for the last time (he had been in and out of the hospital). As in the case of movie greats, Luis’ age is confidential and maybe not even his wife Vina Concepcion, who belongs to the clan that owns Concepcion Industries, and their three children can be forced to reveal it. After Trudis Liit, Vilma would star with Luis years later when she was already a teenager, in Iginuhit ng Tadhana and in Pinagbuklod ng Langit, produced by Sampaguita Pictures, believed to have helped Ferdinand Marcos win when he ran for President and then for reelection. In both movies, Luis plays Marcos, with Gloria Romero as First Lady Imelda Marcos and Vilma as Imee Marcos (now Ilocos Norte Governor). In the second, Gina Alajar plays as Irene Marcos (Mrs. Greggy Araneta), Now-Sen. Bongbong Marcos plays himself in the first movie (it was Jonjie Aranda, ex-husband of Sen. Loren Legarda, who plays Bongbong in the second). “I shot Palimos ng Pagibig (a Viva drama, with Edu Manzano and Dina Bonnevie) at Luis’ house,” added Vilma. “I remember him as sobrang kalog, palabiro. I was nine years old then and he always reminded me to just enjoy everything. We were always shooting dramatic scenes at parati akong iyak nang iyak, but after every take, tawa na kami nang tawa because Tito Luis would start cracking jokes..." - RicoJr (READ MORE)

"...But Eddie Garcia's most significant movie in the 1960's was "Pinagbuklod ng Langit," the film biography of Ferdinand Marcos in 1969. Whenever Vi and I talk about that, we get a good laugh. I make it a private joke when we fight “Basta, I beat you when I was 6 and you were almost 15!” She’d claim I was the judges’ favorite. I’d counter, “I did a death scene at age 6!” Yes, how did you do that? I had Lolita Rodriguez, who played my mom, as my teacher. Of course, as a child, I had no concept of death.
